 6 STRATEGIC PLAN 2027
We began our process in the fall of 2021. Pulling together an Emerging Leaders Planning Team of faculty and staff selected from across the department, we began to look at the prior strategic plan and moderate listening sessions and town halls. Over 300 faculty and staff participated in providing feedback. We
then used the insights from these discussions to revamp our Mission (who we are), Vision (where we want to be), and Values (what makes us who we are). We then worked on converting these ideals into Goals - statements that completed the sentence “Success in 2027 in _______ will look like _________” - that were presented and refined at our all faculty and staff workshops in March 2022.

Since then, we have been working on developing actionable Strategies that will allow us to realize these goals and mapping these strategies to each of the Vice Chairs domains to develop tangible Year One Projects. These range from creating new programs like the DEI Leadership Program and upping our social media presence and engagement to improving our Quality Improvement training for learners and generating a dynamic map of our department’s robust research portfolio that can be used not only to see where we are currently, but where we should go next! In addition to providing this report annually, we are committed to dynamic reporting Metrics and creating a real-time dashboard to show our Progress.
In some ways, the work to this point has been the sprint to the starting line. We are now excited about the race we have ahead of us.
