We%u2019re lucky to have you in our program, what attracted you to come to Minnesota and train at Regions Hospital coming from the University of Colorado? The people! I visited as a rotating medical student and saw how committed Regions is to serving it%u2019s community. With many community and institutional resources for the local underserved population, I was always impressed with the services to provide exceptional care to patients. I knew I wanted to train at a hospital where this was a priority and could be surrounded by supportive staff who had the same views on patient care. You%u2019ve got a special interest in Social Emergency Medicine. Can you share with us your current project you are working on with Dr. Sury regarding Social EM?I%u2019m working with Dr. Sury to develop a curriculum within our residency to equip residents to be future leaders in clinical excellence, systems thinking, and deep commitment to serving the needs of diverse communities. We have developed key learning goals and are developing multiple modalities to integrate different learning activities that allow residents to integrate their lessons into their future practicing physicians to best serve the communities they work in. We hope to provide practical skills that allow residents to become advocates for community health. You are about halfway through residency, what are your favorite parts about training at Regions and living in the Twin Cities?Sounds cheesy, but I love the people here! Everyone from faculty to nurses are always so friendly and have a team mentality towards patient care. The Twin Cities have such easy access to lakefronts and greenery, it makes getting out and enjoying the outdoors so easy. Plus, there%u2019s lots of great restaurants and coffee shops to enjoy a great bite around the Twin Cities. 16 Emergency Medicine Residency 2024 Annual ReportResident spotlightEugene Ng, MD
