Emergency Medicine Residency 2024 Annual Report 29Medical Education FellowshipThe HealthPartners/Regions Hospital Medical Education Fellowship is a 1 or 2 year, non-ACGME fellowship program designed for those pursuing a career in academic medicine. Emergency medicine physicians interested in building skills in curriculum development, leadership, bedside teaching, and clinical education are well suited for the fellowship. Our fellowship offers a diverse teaching and clinical experience, preparing fellows for any career that awaits them after completion of their training. Clinical responsibilities are divided between Regions Hospital and the HP Valley sites. For more information, please contact Dr. Graci Gorman at Graci.M.Gorman@healthpartners.comPediatric Emergency Medicine FellowshipThe Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship program at Children%u2019s Minnesota has been training PEM physicians since 1989. Children%u2019s Minnesota comprises of two large tertiary sites that see a combined volume of 90,000 emergency visits per year. Our Minneapolis campus is certified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level 1 pediatric trauma center. The program has eight PEM fellows supported by 41 PEM trained physicians. Their clinical experience is supplemented by a robust didactic curriculum including high-fidelity simulations, formalized ultrasound training program, faculty and subspecialty lectures, and research support. There are additional opportunities for specialized training in ultrasound through a dedicated ultrasound track and a newly created one year ultrasound fellowship.Ultrasound FellowshipOur ultrasound fellowship was started in 2016 and continues to evolve with the addition of newer ultrasound applications such as resuscitative TEE and advanced regional nerve blocks. Incorporating scanning, teaching, research and administration, this experience is focused on providing a good foundation for academic or community ultrasound program oversight. Fellowship Director, Dr. Michael Zwank, also co-chairs the Regions Hospital Point-of-Care Ultrasound Committee which is a multi-department committee that oversees point-of-care ultrasound throughout the hospital. Our ED has a collaborative working relationship with radiology and cardiology, and our fellow learns in the ED as well as in the echo lab and radiology suite.Toxicology FellowshipThe Regions Hospital Clinical Toxicology Service and Medical Toxicology Fellowship is a joint venture between HealthPartners/Regions and the Minnesota Regional Poison Center (MRPC). We continue to strive to provide education to fellows, residents and students. These learners are why we do what we do, and we look forward to continued work with them. This year the fellowship graduated Drs. Brian Gooley and Arthur Jurao in July 2024, and we welcomed Drs. William Bleifuss and Nicholas Hoffmann. This fall we plan to match two new fellows for the next incoming class; they will be our 30th and 31st fellows.
