Emergency Medicine Residency 2024 Annual ReportFaculty spotlightAlexandra Schick, MD As a critical care fellowship trained Emergency Physician, tell us about your current roles and your special interest in Critical Care Medicine? My clinical practice at Regions is split evenly between the Emergency Department and the Critical Care Medicine Department. Our ICU group cares for a combination of medical, cardiac, post-operative cardiovascular surgery, and VV/VA ECMO patients. Additionally, I spend some time working as an ECMO cannulator for the Minnesota Mobile Resuscitation Consortium Team, which responds to a variety of metro area hospitals for out-of-hospital and in-hospital cardiac arrest patients. I also pick cases and moderate our department%u2019s weekly resuscitation conference, which is another fun way to bring some ICU perspective and teaching to the residents. What do you enjoy most about working at Regions Hospital and with the Emergency Medicine Residents?Working with our residents is my favorite part of my job. I am fortunate to be able to work with the ED residents both in the ED and the ICU. I love sharing some of my ICU knowledge and tips with the residents when we are caring for sick patients together in the ED. It%u2019s amazing to watch the resident%u2019s resuscitation confidence and mastery grow with each month of training! When you are not at Regions doing your incredible clinical practice, what do you love doing outside of work?I love exploring the culinary scene in the Twin Cities, and am always excited to try a new restaurant or cuisine! My other interests include: spending time with my husband and senior pup, caring for an ever growing number of house plants, cooking, traveling, Orangetheory/Peloton, and hiking/walking in nature.Emergency Medicine Residency 2024 Annual Report 21
